…and we are back. Hope everyone survived the day without information and free thought. We all know this was nothing but a taste of what could actually happen if SOPA/PIPA are passed.
We have succeeded on two fronts with this global day of action against these abominable pieces of legislation. First, we raised awareness and countless people learned about something today that they had no idea about yesterday. Few people had any awareness this legislation existed, much less how it would affect them. This is no longer the case. Secondly, we scared Washington into tabling SOPA in hopes that we might forget about it between now and February. We won’t.
PIPA is still alive in the senate. We must continue to stand our ground on this issue. A free internet is one of the most useful tools in creating a free society. Without the internet as we know it today, society as we know it today would not exist. This is not the end of our protest of SOPA/PIPA. Until there is an end to both bills, we will remain vocal and active on this issue. Thank you for taking part in this journey with us. It’s not over yet…

In response to SOPA/PIPA #OHTX will be taking part in the blackout on January 18th.  We will be turning off our twitter, Facebook, occupyhouston.org, our livestream channels, and this tumblr.  We encourage you to change the profile picture on all of your accounts through these services and not access them for 24 hours.
